Background
The
Department of Information and Communications Technology
(ICT) in the Centre for Foundation Studies, IIUM is formed
out following the establishment of Kulliyah of ICT as approved
by the Ministry of Education on 19th of September 2001.
The
initial
intake into the Programme of ICT in the Matriculation Centre
was in Semester I of the 2002/2003 Session, which commenced
on the 4th of June 2002. The programme is accredited by
Malaysia Qualification Agency (MQA).
Rationale and Philosophy
ICT
is a field that has become more and more popular. This
programme functions as a preparatory platform to provide
the knowledge and skills in the field of ICT. The students
who have completed the ICT Programme can join the Kulliyyah
of ICT at the Gombak Campus. The programme is designed
to suit
the need of the Kulliyyah of ICT. The programme will expose
students with elementary computing skills sufficient to
enable them to
use the technology effectively.
Objectives
- To
prepare the candidates for admission into the bachelor
degree programmes at Kuliyyah of Information and
Communication Technology (KICT), IIUM, Gombak.
- To
provide the candidates with knowledge and skills which
are required
in ICT field.
Study Duration
1-2
years of academic year, depending on the result of English
Placement Test (EPT).

Entrance Requirements
Interested
candidates are invited to apply to Engineering and Computer
Science Programme (open to sciences/technical stream
applicants) with these minimum requirements:
- Obtained
at least 4B in Math
- Obtained
at least 5C in Add Math, Physics, Chemistry, English
